This video is part of a series about climate change supported by Breakthrough Energy - a coalition founded by Bill Gates, that is working to expand clean-energy investment and support the innovations that will lead the world to net-zero carbon emissions.

Climate Change is just too much. There is never any good news. Only graphs that get more and more red and angry. Almost every year breaks some horrible record, from the harshest heat waves to the most rapid Glacier melt. It’s endless and relentless.

We have known for decades that rapid Climate Change is being caused by the release of Greenhouse Gases. But instead of reducing them, in 2019 the world was emitting 50% more CO2 than in the year 2000. And emissions are still rising. Why is that? Why is it so hard to just stop emitting these gases?

Everybody points their finger at everyone else. "Governments must fix this." "Corporations must fix this." "The rich must fix this." Guess what, people: YOU must fix this. YOU drive like every Stoplight is a race. YOU run A/C to cool your empty house. YOU make a bonfire just to watch it burn. YOU leave the computer and your cell phone on all day, while you are off doing something else. YOU buy your electricity for a coal burning power plant. I work with ~125 people. How many of them bicycle commute? ONE. The marathon runner drives to work. The jocks all drive to the gym to run on an electric treadmill. People drive to the convenience store to buy hotdogs for lunch. Why didn't YOU bring the hotdog and just nuke it? The Climate downfall's real cause is Apathy. It won't become YOUR problem until YOU are starving and the seawater is lapping at your door.

We have the technology, it’s very inexpensive, it’s very useable. You could run a car on used fry oil if you wanted to, they just don’t want to allow it.

(Isaiah 66:4) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Where do we get the energy to mine, cut down forests, fish, farm, and travel to space? Sounds like there's a hell of a lot of innovation to discover. And what happens if there is no better batteries? It's simply impossible to make better batteries to store electricity? What happens then? We all know what needs to happen and that's the very large reductions in Military's around the world, everyone planting their patch of land instead of grass, building useable transit and way less working and way more hanging out and taking care of each other. What do our governments want? Obedient slave for their wars. We have already past the point where most of us will survive and soon it will be very few of us if any. But don't forget be optimistic about it and always look for fantasy technology.

I hate the idea of a carbon tax, I see that in one of illustrations there’s a cow perhaps portraying the farming/agricultural businesses. Many farmers today are already struggling with high input costs and low commodity prices each year. I personally can’t see a carbon tax helping anyone in the long run, it will increase the cost of your food, the price at which our country sells our commodities to other countries, therefor decreasing exports. I can imagine that would go the same way across all sectors of business if we were to fully rollout a carbon tax.

    1. Population growth alone won't create more CO2 emissions. It's what populations use for ENERGY that produces CO2. If developing countries switch to solar & wind, including micro-grids for sharing energy, there is no reason a larger number of people would mean more emissions. Also, reducing global inequality will reduce birthrates. 2. Economic growth has already been decoupled from CO2 use in the US and most of Europe. 3. agreed 4. We already have the technologies we need. Wind farms alone could power the world 40 x over. We don't need to wait for new technologies, we need the political will to stop funding fossil fuel extraction.

Me too. There's actually a way we could collect greenhouse gases from the air thus stopping the heat to get trapped but unfortunately it is happening on a very small scale rn due to lack of funds. The way is that we collect air from the air from a suction pump, condense the air, distill all the greenhouse chemicals out and sent the rest of the air back in to the atmosphere. We can use the liquid carbon as a backup fuel.

This is why I need to share this with Elon Musk, because his Tesla car is closer to the idea I have. Gates is nowhere near as experienced in this field as Musk. Remember, Gates is the king of e-waste. Illuminati.

I agree with 5:10 to some extent. But one has to keep in mind that it's not only efficiency that matters. Let's say that an imaginary world, electric vehicles were not efficient... it still doesn't erase the fact that it's not emitting anything while operating. Solar panels is a good example of this.

Number one reason for global warming is NOT carbon emissions. It’s meat eaters. Meat consumption is the number one reason for the Amazon being cut down and on fire. Half of the farm land in America alone is to grow food for live stock. If America and China keep up with their consumption of meat products all of North America and Central America would need to be farm land for growing and feed live stock. Eating meat is less sustainable then fossil fuels.

It is a race between humanity's ability to innovate in time to actually balance the natural greenhouse gas equation or delay the inevitable. Why dont people care about climate change? We unfortunately need to incentivize people not with the fear they are already doing something wrong, but to reward them for making healthy changes for our planet. What are some different things that people in varying socioeconomic positions could personally do to help contribute. Buy electric cars? Ride the bus/train? Have a less red meat diet? Explain how putting solar panels on your house saves you money in addition to lowering your carbon footprint? What should people in poorer places and countries do? Farm more efficient foods? Become more educated? Remember that thing where they gave a goat to a family and it changes everything? Can we give them solar panels? Or something more useful? Can 1st world Countries give a functioning nuclear power plant to developing ones? Countries that are well off, how to you incentivize rich businesses and corporations to stop using so much fuel? How can they assist other countries? How can they change our personal lifestyles without us pushing back? Could there be a tax benefit for each person where they live their lives with the side quest of getting up to 5k of tax money for not having a high carbon footprint each year?
